Our activities for the 2024 elections
Since its founding, the fairness of elections, the basis of a democratic state based on the rule of law, and the right to vote has been of primary importance for the Hungarian Helsinki Committee. In line with our goals and main fields of activities defined in our statute, the Hungarian Helsinki Committee plans the following activities in relation to the forthcoming municipal and European Parliamentary elections in Hungary:

Váltás magyarra- Disseminating awareness raising materials to encourage participation in the elections;
- Disseminating easy-to-understand information materials on the powers and roles of the municipalities and the European Parliament;
- Monitoring the fairness of the elections by following the news and the decisions of the National Election Commission, the Kúria and the Constitutional Court related to the objections during the campaign period;
- Information note in English on the implementation of recommendations made by the Election Observation Mission of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights, summarising the factors that may affect the fairness of the elections between two election periods;
- Providing information for foreign citizens living in Hungary:
- Offering easy-to-understand information leaflets in multiple languages on the right to vote and the electoral procedure for EU citizens and third-country nationals in Hungary;
- Disseminating videos on the above;
- Organising online and face-to-face information sessions on the electoral system, and the exercise of the right to vote for non-Hungarian citizens living in Hungary who are eligible voters or are simply interested in the election system.
